Its sunny, but cold here in the Carolinas today...hope you all are staying warm, especially our Car Enthusiasts up North!!!
Our Buck is curled up next to the heater...and not moving an inch. We are plugging away on the cross over from Manual to Digital for this '34 Chevrolet Coupe. We are including some pictures of the ongoing fabrication and installation of the Advance Keys Auto Window Closer, Dakota Digital Gauge Control Module, & Power Distribution Cluster. This tedious work is time consuming, but well worth the effort! We will continue to work on the wiring and components and post our work....so check back again! We are sorry it has taken so long for us to update our blog, we have had to pause our work due to a death in the family. We would like to thank everyone who has been in prayer for us during this time.
We started back on the 1934 Chevrolet Coupe on the 20th, and have been working hard to make up for lost time. Here is a quick summary of what we have accomplished: We cut out the front windshield of the car. We began fabricating a custom power distribution panel that will hold relays for the Auto-Loc switches and overhead console. We also started eliminating old analog circuits that were not necessary for the new digital system. On Wednesday, we received all of our relays and began pre-wiring the power distribution board and fuse boxes. We also laid out the new advanced keyless entry system, that we will install after all the hard wiring is complete. Thursday, we completed the building and wiring of all the relay switches, triggers, and two accessory fuse boxes on our custom power distribution panel & continued removing unnecessary wiring from the old wiring harness. Friday, we completed removing the old wiring that would not be used in our new digital system & installed our custom power distribution panel. We connected & ran leads to various new digital controls, completely wired in the large harness for our cruise control system, began running leads to our new digital gauge cluster, & ran a huge bundle of wiring leads through the passenger A pillar for the new Auto-Loc switches. You may see below photos of our last week's work...Please enjoy & until Monday....God Bless! Partial installation of the Dakota Digital Cruise Control system has begun, along with partial design and fabrication of the Dakota Digital HVAC controls. We have completed the hard-mounting & programming of the cruise control Servo Module & ran the throttle cable with linkage installed.
Due to all the components this new dash assembly system will require, building must begin from the firewall and continue to the face of the dash. We must build in partial installs as we work our way to the outward-facing digital instruments including the cluster gauge, HVAC controls, double din navigation system, push-button automatic transmission drive system, cruise control, push button start, keyless entry and an assortment of high-tech Billet push button controls. These changes require we go through the entire wiring system of the vehicle, eliminating all unnecessary circuits and upgrading the wiring to accommodate the capacity of the new load requirements. We are off to a great start, but have quite a way to go yet!...We are definitely in "elbow deep" and are working towards the light at the end of the tunnel!!! The next stage of this build will be to fabricate two more control panels, one for digital gauges and one for the remote, fuse box, & keyless entry system with all remote accessories... Stay tuned as we work our way towards fabrication of the new dash and console with overhead control systems. Yesterday we began the "physical demolition" of the 1934 Chevrolet Coupe. Below, you can review some shots of the Vehicle PRIOR to Disassembly. Enjoy the Deconstruction of this Beautiful Car! We accomplished quite a lot!....We removed the Door Panels, Window Trim, Windshield & Garnish Mouldings, UnderDash Trim & Panels, Kick Panels, Front Carpets, Seal Plates, Center Console, Metal UnderDash A/C Vent Panel, All associated Wiring Components, Dash, Gauges, A/C Ducting, Dropped the Steering Wheel, & Removed the Front Headliner Panel, the two Windshield Wiper Drive Motors, Wiring-to-Drive-Motors, & the Front Speaker/Tweeter System! Wheeew! The '34 Chevrolet Coupe is now prepped to fabricate the mounting brackets & install the Specialty Power Window Wiper System.
Please check back for ongoing updates on this intensive upgrade! |
